Weekend in Holland - Rotterdam

Rotterdam was a big surprise for me. since the city was bombed during WW2 the major part of the city has been rebuilt since with very original architecture... But I'll let you be the judges with a few photos!

Cube houses

On the left of this photo, you can see a white tower. Well, it's the oldest skyscraper in Europe :)

In the port

The Erasmus bridge :)

We took a watertaxi it was fun :)

One among many weird statues in the city

That is all for today... Tomorrow (Sunday the 5th of April) I'm off to the Southwestern coast of England with 3 friends. It's a ten-day road trip, I am really looking forward to it!!

Weekend in Holland - Amsterdam

So the last weekend of February (I know, took me some time to write about it) it was my turn to sett off to visit friends... in the Netherlands. I stayed in Amsterdam 2 days, then in Rotterdam for 2 days. I had a blast. Amsterdam was so beautiful, with all the canals, the old buildings sinking down, people on bikes... I also got to go in several museums for free thanks to my friend's museum pass hehe.

Houses sinking in

Canals by night

Wicked Rijksmuseum

Van Gogh museum

Book sellers (bouquinistes ;))

The one-hour queue to get in Anne Frank's house (but was definitely worth it)

For all French speakers, here is something that should make you laugh (click on the picture to enlarge it)

You gotta love tourist shops :-p

Visits - Friends :)

After the departure of the Césars family I had 2 friends staying over for the weekend, one coming from Edinburgh and the other from Lyon. Since we all met in Lyon last year it was like a little reunion and we had a lot of fun, in Windsor (even though we didn't visit the castle... After all I've already seen it three times, and the queue was massive)
We also went to Brick Lane, to have yummy Indian food and check out the Sunday up market. I think Brick Lane is my favourite place in London. You can eat good food for cheap, there are plenty of alternative cafes and bars with good music and atmosphere, and it's not too touristy yet(no one in my school seems to have heard of it) unlike Camden Town.

Cupcakes at the market

London's "Gherkin"

The following weekend, it was my turn to go visit friends... in the Netherlands. But I will talk about it and post some photos in a separate post :)
The week after I got another visit in Slough! A friend of mine and her boyfriend arrived directly from California. It was really cool showing them around, especially since one of them had never been to Europe and never taken public transportation :-0

In front of Liberty, one of the oldest malls in the UK, with very expensive goods

In Koko, an awesome club in Camden, used to be a theatre but is now a club with live music and DJs

The Borough Market near London Bridge, where you can find delicious food

At the Lyceum theatre near Covent Garden in London, waiting for the musical The Lion King to begin (it was wicked, thanks again guys for taking me :))

Fighting with the chocolate biscuits brought back from Germany by my friends^^

Visits - La famille :)

Hello people who are still coming here every other month to check my updates!
Sorry for the lack of news, but as I expected February was a very busy month and March is not much more quiet! Why, are you asking me? Well, because I had lots of people visiting, and it was great :-)
First my parents and sister, for 10 days in February. It was a real pleasure to have them here during my school holidays and show them where I live! Plus we got to do a lot of day trips thanks to the car. So quick summary in pictures:

More of london, including a trip to see the brilliant musical Chicago

We took this picture because of the photo with Obama as Superman on the wall
The face of the woman in this image cracks me up^^

Cheeeeeeese!

Second visit to Oxford

Twentieth (actually I stopped counting :-p) visit of Windsor

A lovely way to spend Valentine's day: visiting Stratford-upon-Avon with my family and housemates :)
Posing in front of Shakespeare's birthplace

Shakespeare's grave

Stopping in Canterbury...
Zombie Jesus

A poem about one of England's most famous supermarkets (Woolworth's) going bankrupt...

We also went to Rochester to visit my great-aunt and great-uncle but I don't have any photos of it :-(
So those were 10 full days, with plenty of great memories! Thanks again for coming! xx
